A private Solana wallet is a self-custody wallet with a documented feature intended to reduce what another party can learn from a transfer or wallet relationship. That does not automatically make balances, amounts, timing, IP addresses, or every connected action private. Solana's ledger is public, and each privacy system has a different threat model. The Solana Foundation directory recommends verifying the official provider and testing with a small amount before moving assets.[1]

How we ranked privacy wallets

  1. Define the privacy claim. We distinguish shielded balances, private transfers, sender-recipient unlinking, and app data collection.
  2. Require current iPhone evidence. Each ranked wallet had a live U.S. App Store listing when checked.
  3. Prefer primary sources. Product capabilities come from official documentation and store listings, not anonymous recommendations.
  4. State what stays observable. A privacy feature is not described as universal anonymity.
  5. Disclose the publisher conflict. NOVA's ownership of this page is explicit, and stronger privacy-specific evidence outranks it.

1. Umbra — best for a privacy-first wallet design

Umbra's current App Store listing describes shielded SOL, SPL, and Token-2022 transfers, private mode, gasless transfers, a decoy-balance distress mode, DeFi access, and self-custody. Its documentation describes encrypted token accounts intended to hide balances and transfer amounts.[2] [3]

Apple's page showed version 3.1.0, iOS 15.1 or later, a 5.0 average across six ratings, and a developer-declared Data Not Collected privacy label when checked. Apple states that privacy information is supplied by the developer and is not independently verified.

Choose Umbra when the wallet itself should center shielded balances and transfers. Treat the small rating sample and unverified technical claims as reasons to test with a small amount and read the current documentation before relying on it.

2. Veilo — strong privacy-specific claims with a material reliability caveat

Veilo's current U.S. App Store listing documents transfers processed through zero-knowledge proofs, shielded transaction details, private username payments, a 0.5% relayer fee on private transfers, swaps, and withdrawals, and isolated dApp wallets intended to prevent on-chain linking.[4]

Apple's page showed version 1.3.6, iOS 15.1 or later, a 3.0 average across two ratings, and developer-declared identifiers linked to the user. Its only written U.S. review reports the app crashing on launch after an update. We did not reproduce that report, but it is a material current reliability signal.

Choose Veilo cautiously when shielded transfers and isolated dApp identities matter more than an established iPhone track record. Start with a small amount and verify that the current build opens and completes the intended flow before relying on it.

Choose NOVA when you want a privacy-preserving transfer workflow alongside multi-chain asset management and wallet intelligence on iPhone. Choose Umbra instead when shielded balances and a privacy-specialized wallet architecture are the overriding requirement, or Veilo when isolated dApp wallets are worth its much thinner and currently mixed reliability evidence.

Solflare — best near-miss for staking and hardware users who also need Private Send

Solflare's listing documents self-custody, SOL staking, swaps, NFTs, hardware-wallet support, stablecoin gas payments, and Private Send. Its official Private Send explanation says the feature hides the direct link between sender and recipient while the transfer amount remains visible on-chain. It is optional, off by default, routed through an integrated provider, and displays fees and estimated processing time before approval.[6] [7]

Apple's page showed version 2.27.0, iOS 16.0 or later, about a 4.84 average across 9,756 ratings, and a developer-declared Data Not Linked to You label covering coarse location when checked.

Choose Solflare when staking, hardware-wallet compatibility, and a mature Solana-only workflow matter first, with privacy as an optional send mode rather than the wallet's whole product design.
